Once completed the breastfeeding period, mothers are faced with one problem which is to tighten the breasts after breastfeeding. This is reasonable because after giving birth and breastfeeding, breast shape and size can change.
Breasts are composed of fat tissue. The more fat tissue there is, the bigger and denser the breast size. Breast density increases when the glands produce milk after giving birth. After the breastfeeding period, the tissues in the breast can change.
Most women feel anxious that their breasts will not be tight anymore after breastfeeding. When in fact the ligament stretch that supports the breast occurs during pregnancy. So the breasts can be loose after giving birth, whether breastfeeding or not. It is possible that the difference in the first pregnancy is not noticeable, but the breasts can appear increasingly sagging in the second pregnancy and so on.
In addition, there are many other factors that can affect breast firmness, namely age, smoking, breast size before pregnancy, and Body Mass Index (BMI). Other causes are overweight, rapid weight loss, age and large breast size.
Get around the breast that changes shape
Research shows, breastfeeding does not make the volume or shape of the breast change. Even if the breasts change, it is likely due to other factors mentioned above. So there is no specific way to tighten the breasts after breastfeeding. However, you are advised to do the following in an effort to maintain the condition of the breasts so they don't get sagging after breastfeeding:- Maintain ideal body weight
- Using the right size bra
- Doing physical activity or exercising regularly
- Stop smoking. If necessary, ask for a doctor's help.
- Eat healthy food
